Copper Alloy

Copper Alloy

Supplier of a wide range of products which include Copper Alloy such as Chromium Zirconium Copper, Tungsten Copper, Beryllium Copper, Nickel Silicon Chromium Copper and Chromium Zirconium Copper Rods / Plates.

Chromium Zirconium Copper

Chromium Zirconium Coppers are used widely in areas where high electrical and thermal conductivity are required combined with good mechanical properties. Uses include Resistance Welding Machine Electrodes, Seam Welding Wheels, Spot Welding Tips, Flash Butt Welding Electrodes, Anvil Contact Bars, Electrical Switch Gear Contacts & Terminals, Electrode Holders, Cable Connectors, Current Carrying Arms and Shafts, Circuit Breaker Parts, Heat Sinks, Short Circuit Rings, MIG welding contact tubes and many other applications where Copper would normally be the ideal choice for High Conductivity but is just not Strong enough.

C18150 Chromium Zirconium Copper is used extensively for cap style resistance welding electrodes. Evidence suggests that it can provide less sticking and resist deformation longer than its chromium copper counterpart in some specific situations.

Tungsten Copper

Tungsten Copper alloy is an alloy composite of Tungsten and Copper which has the combination s of the excellent properties of Tungsten and Copper, such as heat resistance, aberration resistance, high density, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity. It is easy to be machine.

We Supply Tungsten Copper by Press, Sinter & Infiltration method with the tungsten content ranging from 50% to 90% by weight. The balance is copper.

1. Electrical Contact materials

Electrical contacts are subjected to extreme mechanical and thermal stresses during operation. For fractions of a second, temperatures rise to several thousand degrees as a result of the arcing. Only Tungsten Copper materials will stand these high temperature & aberration.

Tungsten Copper material has good resistance to arc erosion, mechanical wear, contact welding and good conductivity. They are usually selected for oil, gas, air or vacuum, devices. The contact surfaces will oxidize when switched in air. These press-sinter-infiltrate materials should only be considered for arcing surfaces in air when used as arcing tips, arc plates and arc runners. When switching with moderate contact arcing, the Tungsten Copper with a high copper content may give the lowest erosion. As arcing severity increases, the Tungsten Copper with the higher refractory content withstand arc erosion better. Tungsten Coppers are also used as arcing edges of selector switchblades in transformer tap changers.

2. Electrodes for Spark Erosion

Tungsten Copper electrodes are best suitable material for electrical discharge machining (EDM) applications. It has excellent wear resistance, good metal removal rate and ability to retain good detail. It is used where speed and wear resistance are most important.

3. Resistance Welding

Tungsten Coppers are used for some spot welding application of low conductivity materials, and as die inserts for flash and butt resistance welding applications.

4. Heat Sinks

Modern computer processors like the 586 series and higher, generate a heat output per square centimeter similar to that of a household cooker surface. Tungsten-copper heat sinks and the processor fan remove the heat.

Beryllium Copper

Beryllium Copper alloys are used for their High Strength and Good Electrical and Thermal Conductivities.

There are two groups of Beryllium Copper alloys. One is High Strength Alloys and the other High Conductivity Alloys.

The High Conductivity Alloys contain 0.2-0.7% Beryllium and higher amounts of Nickel and Cobalt.

These alloys are used in applications such as Electronic Connector Contacts, Switch and Relay Blades, Control Bearings, Housings for Magnetic Sensing Devices, Non Sparking applications, Small Springs, High Speed Plastic Molds and Resistance Welding Electrodes. Their high conductivity enables high production speed, while their good corrosion and oxidation resistance promotes long mould life.

Beryllium copper is used in Springs & Collets and other parts that must retain their shapes during periods in which they are subjected to repeated strain. Due to its Electrical Conductivity, it is used in Low-Current Contacts for Batteries and Electrical Connectors. And because it is Non-Sparking but physically tough and non-magnetic, it is used to make tools that can be used in explosive environments

Nickel Silicon Chromium Copper

A Nickel Silicon Chromium Copper is an alloy having a high hardness and improved electrical conductivity almost equal to that of Beryllium Copper. The alloy is composed by weight of 2.0% to 3.0% Nickel, 0.4% to 0.8% Silicon, 0.1% to 0.5% Chromium, and the balance Copper. It replaces the Beryllium Copper in practically all applications.

Nickel Silicon Chromium Copper is used wherever a good electrical or thermal conductivity is required together with high mechanical properties

Applications include Electrode Holders and Seam Welding Shafts, Spot welding electrodes, Seam Welding Wheels, Projection and Butt welding dies, Plunger tips for cold chamber aluminium die casting machines, Parts of Moulds for Injection moulding of plastics, Injection-Nozzles and Cooling Pins etc.
